Presentation
Robert Szymanski, a lecturer at Georgia Southern University, has been teaching in higher education for 25 years and using SAP in the classroom for about 20 years. With a focus on Information Systems, Professor Szymanski integrates ERPsim to prepare students for future careers, with an emphasis on hands-on learning with the ERPsim Games to provide a comprehensive understanding of ERP systems.
Using ERPsim in Class
Professor Szymanski has been using ERPsim for many years, in various courses. Primarily, he uses ERPsim in information systems classes, both synchronously and asynchronously. The Maple Game is his preferred choice for introductory students, offering a simple yet focused introduction to business processes. For more advanced students, such as those in supply chain management, he introduces the Manufacturing Introduction Game and often progresses to the Manufacturing Extended Game, depending on the students' engagement and interest.
ERPsim allows students to understand end-to-end business process cycles and enhances their team-building skills. The competitive nature of the games, especially the Manufacturing Extended Game, keeps students engaged and motivated. Professor Szymanski's approach ensures that students not only learn but also enjoy the process, leading to better retention and application of the concepts taught.
I think the ERPsim game, like I said, I've been doing it for a number of years, and it just keeps getting better and better.
Professor Szymanski prepares students for real-world business challenges but also deepens their understanding of business processes and the strategic role of ERP systems.
